Pitch - Further Research

Another artist that I’m looking at is Bryan Lee O’Malley (best known for Scott Pilgrim):

What I'm mostly interested in is how he uses the black and white colour scheme, and the layout of his pages:

I'm considering doing my graphic novel in black and white, or at least greyscale to save on time. I was worried that by going purely black and white that I would cut out a lot of detail, or create a bit of a mess on the screen. O'Malley however is able to pull it off, mostly with thick outlines and not overdoing the background detail.

The next artist I'm looking at is Ian Culbard. Specifically his retelling of H.P Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness:

What I'm hoping to emulate is the simplicity he brings to his illustration, specifically his character's faces, and the backgrounds:

If I am to bring colour into my work then I would definitely like to do something similar to Culbard's, however I'm worried about time management. Colouring my work could potentially add weeks to my production, which is just not possible with a May deadline.
